UKAA Welcomes You To Cannock Wood

UKAA are proud to announce that we have just funded the brand new road sign welcoming you to Cannock Wood.

The road sign is part of the W.I's 2015 celebrations for their centenary year where they were asked to think of ways in which they could benefit their local communities.

This morning the Staffordshire W.I. chairman, Sheila Moulton, unveiled the brand new road sign which features the W.I. centenary logo.

The Women's Institute movement in Britain began in 1915 during the First World War where it was formed to encourage country women to get involved in growing and preserving food in order to help increase food supply in the war-torn nation.

They later contributed huge amounts to the Home Front helping to care for evacuees as well as growing and preserving food.

Since then the organisation's aims have broadened and the W.I. is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK with 212,000 members.

In more recent days the W.I. play a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills as well as taking part in a wide variety of activities and campaigning for issues that matter to them and their communities.

The W.I. are renowned for their contributions to their community and charitable activities.

UKAA are very proud to be associated with such a wonderful organisation.
