• The plaque measures 43" diameter and is a maximum of 6" deep
• Attributed to Michelangelo Di Lodovico Buoarroti Simoni (1475-1564)
• This is a casting that was taken from the 'Virgin and Child with the infant St John, CA, 1504-1505'
• This casting was taken from the original from the original marble sculpture 'Tondo Taddei', held by the Royal Academy in London.
• Bequeathed by Sir George beaumont in 1822, it is the only marble sculpture by Michelangelo in Great Britain. This casting was only allowed due to Arnold Machin's high standing in the Royal Academy.
• This is therefore a unique item.
