Victorian Gothic Revival Carved Alabaster Memorial Tablet

• Victorian Gothic Revival Carved Alabaster Memorial Tablet
• Excellent decorative Alabaster Church Tablet, very hard to come by.
• A remarkable piece of history, with a story hidden within its walls.
• When our UKAA yard team carefully removed this historic item from a Church located in Derby, they made an extraordinary discovery. Hidden within the original brickwork was a glass time capsule, which had remained completely undisturbed for over 145 years.
• Inside the bottle was a handwritten letter recording that the item was installed on 25th October 1880 — offering a fascinating glimpse into its history and the people who were responsible for its installation all those years ago.
• A truly unique piece with an incredible provenance, this discovery adds an extra layer of history and character to an already remarkable architectural antique.
• This comes into pieces.
• The tablet measures: 54 ¼" Wide x 55" Tall.
• Reclaimed from a Church in Derby.
• There are nibbles/chips here and there which are commiserate with age.
• Purchased with 2 other items from the Church which are available to buy separately.
• We felt is was only right for the Church to keep the paperwork.
