• This is a truly gorgeous example of an Oak Church Eagle Lectern made to a high standard with great detailing.
• Sat on 3 x lions paws, a round detailed base with 'ring' turned support, oak leaf carvings, the eagle is nicely detailed with the wings, feathers and feet.
• The Church lectern measures: 65 ½" Tall x 21 ½" Wing Span (max) x 26" Diameter Base.
• The eagle rotates 360 degrees.
• The lectern is totally freestanding and sturdy.
• Circa 1922.
• The eagle is the symbol used to depict John the Apostle, whose writing is said to most clearly witness the light and divinity of Christ.
• The eagle was believed to be the bird that flew highest in the sky and was therefore closest to heaven, and symbolised the carrying of the word of God to the four corners of the world.
