Whilst out shopping in Lichfield at the weekend my wife and I happened to notice a lovely novel use for reclaimed floorboards at our local Fat Face shop.
Here at UKAA we stock a variety of floorboards including salvaged victorian boards and have sold them to customers using them for a variety of purposes.
However at Fat Face they have installed them in a truly original style: not only cladding the wall with floorboards but creating a surround for their TV and fabricating a storage unit from them!
As you can see they have left the flooboards in an un-touched state without any sanding or varnishing etc and as a result have created a lovely rustic, almost industrial look and feel that has translated to their whole shop. Oh and the TV looks pretty cool too!
As always if you want to recreate this look using the very best reclaimed and salvaged original Victorian floorboards, see the following link:

We have just advertised some amazing Victorian Cast Iron Guttering that i felt had to be shared on the news section!
The guttering is truly an amazing find, reclaimed from a large manor house in Southern Birmingham just last week.
It is a really heavy and high quality item with great detailing of a rope twist top edge and ribbon front panel as shown in the picture below.
The guttering would literally be the finishing touch to any home as it has a real "wow factor"!
In the picture below, Danielle (left) and Viv (right) is holding one of the mid-sections to give a sense of scale - it is 6 inches deep and 5 inches tall and as you can see very heavy!
We have over 110 feet in stock and online ready to buy from our website at UKAA.

This week we are delivering 10 Pub Tables to a repeat customer who wanted us to make him some Bespoke Table Tops that were made from reclaimed floorboards and fit them to some cast iron table bases that he had sourced himself (including refurbishing and painting the bases to his chosen colour).
At UKAA we make Made to Measure Bespoke Tables by hand here in Cannock Wood, Staffordshire. We work intimately with the client's needs, including the material, the design including dimensions, drawers and leg style and the finish of the table e.g. waxed, painted or stained.
This weeks order is just one example of how we try our very best to accomodate the client's needs.

During all of this wet British weather i thought it would be a nice idea to show you our dry storage for our Reclaimed Floorboards. We put great pride into all of the little things that we do at UKAA in Cannock Wood, Staffordshire that we believe makes us different and special in Architectural Antiques. This storage area allows not only our customers to look around in good natural light but also for us to handle the floorboards in a safe, clean manor that allows us to package and deliver the customer's floorboards in the best condition possible.
We stock a variety of flooring but we take great pleasure in stocking the very best hand picked reclaimed and salvaged floorboards as well as resawn and oak floorboards, not to mention the best parquet and strip flooring.
Please do not hesitate to contact the UKAA team to discuss your needs, you are of course more than welcome to view our stock by appointment in lovely dry conditions in this British winter.
I hope to upload some helpful videos to allow you to get the best out of your floorboarding, i only now need to find the time...

Rufus our little Irish Terrier and his girlfriend Morag (Staffie Cross, who came down with Jamie and his wife Monica) are seen here sheltering in the office with Becky and Danielle from all of the horendous weather today:
Fortunately for them as Daniel, Paul and I were working outside on restoring some old Pillar Boxes, a Victorian Fire Surround and hand building a Copper Topped Table these two little dogs were cosying up on one bed keeping warm!
I will be adding some videos soon to show you our handy skills and find out what makes UKAA different when it comes to hand building bespoke items for our customers needs- keep your eyes peeled!

Good morning, as my mom Viv set off for Scotland this morning for a 4 hour drive from Cannock Wood to have a look at a antique grand cast iron range from a very large manor house in the south of Scotland, i managed to snap a picture of our weather vane, as you can see below:
Little did i realise the extent of the storm looming...
My in-laws live just outside Glasgow and they have been lucky so far, despite some trees falling down; typical British weather!
I hope everyone is safe today.
