Antique Windows And Glass

At UKAA we are always trying to source and salvage some of the finest cast iron windows around. Cast iron Gothic, lattice windows and crittal windows are highly sought after. If you are in a conservation area then it is very important you replace your windows with like for like. Modern reproduction windows can be very expensive and not always the correct way to go with a traditional period property. Using and sourcing reclaimed materials for an old property is often harder but the end result is stunning and well worth the effort.

We have some decorative cast iron windows that have been converted into mirrors making them a wonderful feature in any home or period property.

Mirrors are an interior designer’s best friend, and with good reason — a well-placed mirror makes the most of a room's natural light, enhances views, opens a small space and adds oomph to décor. The key lies in pairing the right mirror with the right location to maximise its décor-uplifting potential.

Stained Glass is also something that we love to source and we have had some wonderful examples over the years. Our stained glass panels and windows are salvaged from period homes, Churches and Chapels throughout the UK. Ecclesiastical and religious windows are a real favourite at UKAA, the colours and subjects are truly moving and great pieces of art.

Reclaimed antique salvaged Church, Chapel or Cathedral original stained glass windows are in stock and available for delivery worldwide

Stained glass windows were very popular in the 1920’s & 1930’s and were often fitted to the top hoppers adding a unique and beautiful feature to a home. The panels were often matched up to the doors and the patterns included geometrical shapes, hand painted birds, ships and sunbursts. Double glazing saw thousands of properties ripping out the old beautiful stained glass and replacing with double glazed units. These were then recycled and sold often going to America in there tens of thousands during the 1990’s.

The making of stained glass windows has hardly changed since the 12th century. A stained-glass window consists of pieces of coloured glass held together in a latticed web of lead.

Antique Victorian stained glass windows are fully refurbished and available for delivery or collection from our yard in Staffordshire
